There are plenty of things to do around Bamburgh Village and the surrounding area, whatever the weather. Further afield, within half an hour's drive, there are even more places to see and visit.
The following gives you just a glimpse of what is on offer, with links if they are available:-
In Bamburgh Village and within walking distance of Dunholme Cottage are the Grace Darling Museum, Bamburgh Castle with its green and twelfth century church. A walk along the Wynding or on the beach by the Castle will bring you to the Bamburgh Golf Club, from where you can explore Picnic Bay and Budle Bay, an RSPB nature reserve.

Bamburgh Castle
Three miles down the coast is the busy harbour village of Seahouses, which offers horse-riding, golf, a leisure centre, boat trips to the Farne Islands to see puffins and seals as well as fish and chips and the award winning Ship Inn pub.
Other places well worth a visit are Holy Island (check the tides!), Dunstanburgh Castle near Craster (famous for its kippers), Chatton with its trout fishery, Wooler (gateway to the Cheviot Hills) and Howick Hall (former home of Earl Grey).
Less than 20 miles from Bamburgh are the market towns of Alnwick (with its 'Harry Potter' Castle and famous Alnwick Garden and treehouse) and Berwick (with its fortifications). The River Tweed provides some of the best salmon fishing waters in the country.
You are spoilt for choice if you like walking or cycling, whether recreational or along designated routes. Clear nights in North Northumberland offer the opportunity to see the Northern Lights. A good place to check is AuroraWatch UK and this year is especially good!
